There is an average of 58,000,000 images being uploaded to Grow Instagram daily. With such a forceful flow of images, how do we know which ones are the most noteworthy? You guessed it – Likes.

Likes are the easiest way for you to evaluate the performance of your posts, and they are the main way users interact with each other.

With Instagram’s new algorithm likes are more important than ever, as it ensures that posts from accounts we interact the most with appear first. So, if people like and engage with your photos, that will ensure that they continue seeing them in the future.

There are only about 1,650,000,000 likes divvied out daily, which is only about 28 likes per post. Yet, some images have millions of likes, and some have none. We think it’s time to put an end to this Capitalist top 1% business, and make sure you are getting your fair share of likes.

So, how can you grow the number of likes you get on your posts?

1) Content is King

First, and the most important way to get more likes is to make sure you are posting high quality content that resonates with your target audience.

Making sure your image resolution, lighting and theming are all on point are a must before you post something.

Kim and Kanye’s wedding photo was once the most liked photo on Instagram.

2) Timing Is Everything

Have you ever posted a photo that you thought was going to rock your followers’ worlds only to be disappointed with low interaction rates? Automating your likes, can be one of the best ways to never post those peak posting times.

You may have posted at the wrong time. Not only do you have to make sure you are posting consistently, you also need to be posting at times when your photo or video is more likely to be seen.

We recommend you engage in some good old split-testing and try out the following times:

  • Weekdays between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m.
  • Any time Monday – Thursday (except from 3 pm to 4 pm) -Hubspot
  • Wednesday at 5 p.m -Latergramme

Not only did Kanye make Taytay famous, his bouquet gave her one of the most liked photos ever.

3) Get Personal

Don’t be afraid to show-off or get a little more personal. People respond to story-telling, so by sharing your story, you can humanise yourself and make people feel as though they know you. This may lead to them feeling more open to engaging with your content. So don’t be afraid to share a selfie with a little personal caption.

4) Link Your Instagram to Facebook

Speaking of people who know you. A lot of the people you are friends with on Facebook are also on Instagram and when you link the two accounts those people will get a notification that you are on Instagram.

Your friends already know you and are likely to engage with your content, so this is an easy trick to tick off the list.

5) Use Popular Hashtags

Hashtags make it easier for people to discover photos. Below are lists of hashtags sorted by themes. Just copy paste the ones most relevant to your account or photo the next time you post.

6) Interact With Other Users’ Content

It’s great to use hashtags to get your own content in front of other users, but don’t underestimate the value of interacting with their posts as well.

When you engage with another person’s post, they will get a notification that you liked or commented on their post. In some cases, that user might have a look at your profile as a result. If they like what they see, they will engage with your content and maybe even follow you.

We know it is hard to engage with other people’s posts at scale when you lead a busy life.

However, you can use a social media management tool like Magic Social to automate your commenting and other tools such as LikeSocial or Social10x to boost your likes.

We hope our tips have put your wheels for getting more likes in motion, like Kimmy’s here:
