Even for the most professional account, lifestyle photos may be a good thing to occasionally inject into your content, keeping it authentic and relatable to your followers. Obviously, for those in the travel/blogging/influencer/music arena, taking great lifestyle photos is the #1 key to success. We’re going to have a look at what makes up a good lifestyle photo.

Camera: What are you using?

It’s really up to you whether or not you want to use a professional camera; nowadays, with cell phone cameras at a high level of quality, it’s not impossible to take great photos with a sense of ease. They’re also great, because they actually DO capture life, in the moment, as they are an integral part of most people’s lives. However, DSLR cameras are always going to give you that extra punch of quality, depending on what exactly you’re looking for and how well you can take photos with them. Try out both options and see what works for you. The quality of your photos, regardless, has to be top notch and as pro as possible.

Lighting

Lighting is a key element. It can completely change the mood of the photo, as well as the quality. Know your subject, and make sure you have the right lighting for it. Filters can help adjust the tone and the mood of the photo as well, so that can also help you to edit and adjust the quality of the lighting and the exposure if need be. With the different photo editing tools, you have so many options at your disposition! Use them accordingly to give your photos that extra dash of quality.

Content

What exactly should you be photographing? That all depends on what you want to convey to your followers. Do you want to document your quiet moments at home with your pet? Are you looking to show the hustle and bustle of the city? Did you zoom in on some quaint details of your daily commute? Do you love sharing your fashion accessories? This is something that you have to consider with specificity, as you should always post photos, regardless of whether or not they are lifestyle photos, that align with your brand’s image and message. Otherwise, they are useless to you, no matter how great the photo is.
